What Went Down on the Lost Finale (Spoiler Alert!)
Bye bye Charlie. Last night’s finale ended just as we (and Desmond) predicted. But, unlike a lot of past Lost casualties, at least the guy died for a good cause. And frankly, I’m not going to miss him. The way he fawned over Claire and Aaron was always a little creepy, and I’m especially happy that I don’t have to hear Claire say “Chah-lie” 18 times an episode. Now what’s the deal with this Naomi chick? Is this rescue really going to lead to misery for everyone? And will the show need to be re-titled “Found?” This season’s finale didn’t have the same bang as the “what’s in the hatch?” or “the hatch blew up!” cliffhangers of the past two seasons, but darnit if last night’s peek into the future didn’t hook me onto the show for yet another year. And Walt’s finally back! We missed you, little guy—how you’ve grown! Every time I want to take it off my TiVo’s season pass because I’m so frustrated by all the questions, they give enough answers to keep me watching. Oh well, life could be worse. I could develop an oxycodone addiction and grow a hideously overgrown beard like Jack. I was begging future Jack to shave almost as much I was begging island Jack to finally off Ben for once and for all.
So what did you think of last night's season finale cliffhangers? Did they leave you with more questions, answers or just wanting more? Tell us!

I THINK THE ENDING SUCKED Charlie SHOULD NEVER OF DIED
AND WHATS WITH THAT OTHER GUY DOES HE NEVER DIE.
Laurie | May 25, 2007 12:40:00 PM
I was REALLY disappointed about Charlie dying. I think he was a wonderful character and I enjoyed his acting. Let's hope they bring him back in flashbacks or as something (spirit) that helps Claire/the survivors to get home. The peek into the future was a neat twist, but with another few seasons coming, I wonder if it will be focusing more on the future then while they are on the island. Please, please answer the sometimes really confusing issues like the polar bear and black spirit. Even though some things are REALLY ridiculous, it is still very well written and keeps me tuned in to see what will happen next. We need more really good suspense shows on TV. Bravo!! Keep it coming!

I was soo sad when I watched the scene when Charlie died; I just recently started watching the show, & caught up on seasons 1 & 2 before the finale tonight, & Charlie was definitely my favorite character. He had so much depth & seemed like he was meant for so much more, to kill him off now is such a waste of a talented actor & of a good & heartfelt storyline between he & Claire & Aaron. I don't get why he couldn't have gotten out of the hatch & then closed the door to stop the flooding. I really hope that Charlie isn't truly dead; maybe b/c Aaron seems to have such a connection with the island he would be able to bring Charlie back? I can only hope :( Loved the rest of the finale, & can't wait for season 4!!

i loved the glimpse into the future! i hope they keep on doing that. because yeah, once they're found, the show would be over but with the flash-forwards, we get to see what happens to them when they're off the island.
and i think that locke was the one in the casket because jack kept saying that he wanted to go back to the island and they shouldn't have left and that's what locke was telling him too.

I loved the season finale. I thought that when Charley died it was so sad, I thought that Charley was funny in his last show and I will miss him. I got really confused about that girl that came in the helicopter and said that she knew Desmond's girlfriend when she didn't, I mean who is she and where did she come from? Also in that episode Jack made it sound like his dad was still alive, like when the one doctor told Jack that he knew about him trying to kill himself and asked him if he was drunk Jack said "that if u bring my dad here then I bet that he will be a whole lot more drunk then I am". I wonder if that means somehow his dad isn't died. The last thing that I don't get is how that guy that wears a patch over his eye lives after being blown up, shot right under his heart, and he probably lived after he blow up the window to fluid the room that Charley was in. I think that it is so annoying.

I for one am devastated over the loss of Charlie. The show will never be the same!

I loved the season finale. I thought it was GREAT!! Well thought and developed. Lost is just one of those great mistery show. I think it's silly to say that the show will not go back to the island. We don't have enough information to say that the show will suck from now on and so on. The fact is that we have been left with so many unresolved misteries that are going to be revealed next season. Are we really off the island? What's the island? Is Locke on the island? Is he been rescued? Is Jack's father dead? Is Charlie dead? Is the island a manifestation of a religion?
I just love the show.

I think that it mightve been juliette's funeral. I dont know. because no one was there and no one really liked her soo...It was a good finale though and im totally amped that Walt came back..hes all grown up!
Kel | May 24, 2007 4:04:18 PM
Did anyone think that the girl with the dark hair was the girl that helped Kate see her mother and the one that Sawyer conned. There was a huge resemblance but I'll have to go back to prior episodes to watch.
Ronda | May 24, 2007 4:03:23 PM
I think that the island's magnetic force allows it/Ben/whatever to mess with the time/space continuum. Don't forget what happened to Desmond when the hatch blew, he woke up in the past then tried to correct it and got knocked back to the island. Also, in the 'real world' OFF the island, everyone thinks they're dead, wreckage and bodies were found. Is it possible that Ben is aware of this and perhaps this is what he is so protective of? When the audio of the video in room 23 (where Karl was being brainwashed)is reversed, the message "Only fools are enslaved by time and space" is present.
sarah | May 24, 2007 3:45:38 PM
everyone is accepting jacks flashes without question but what about when he said "bring my father down, if I am more drunk than him you can fire me". his father is dead, that is why Jack was on the plane to begin with.
what does this mean?
Haley | May 24, 2007 2:41:54 PM
Dont you think it was Sayer in the coffin? I mean Jack claimed the body was neither a friend nor a family member. Jack and Sawyer are constantly at odds on the island. It also makes sense because Kate would be defensive about Sawyer when Jack assumed she would have been at the funeral. I hope it wan't Sawyer though because he is just too gorgeous to die. If he's gone then who am I going to drool at? I need Kate and Sawyer to stay together!
BRENDA JORDAN | May 24, 2007 2:28:01 PM
I HOPE THE PERSON KATE HAD TO GET BACK TO IS SAWYER. I WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT HUNK GOT KILLED OFF THE SHOW. I BALLED WHEN CHARLIE CROSSED HIMSELF AND JUST DRIFTED BACK--SO SAD. BUT WHY DIDN'T LOCKE WANT JACK TO CALL FOR RESCUE. EVEN THOUGH HE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE THE ISLAND---THE OTHER SURVIVORS DID.
Traci | May 24, 2007 2:27:33 PM
I thought the season finale of Lost was a huge let down...I will not watch it in the future. They made me so interested every week and then the show that really counts was awful.......
Monica | May 24, 2007 2:23:02 PM
I think the bond between Claire, Aaron & Charlie is/was beautiful! I guess that's just how it is in a mother's eyes. Last nights show was a little twisted, I am still brain storming on some of it. However, reading everyone's comments helps a lot. Wondering if this was actually the end, or if we will see another season? One week the previews said it's nearing the end of Lost. From then on it was a countdown to the season finale. I really hope Charlie comes back. Watching Aaron cry as Charlie was dying, that really made me cry. The only father figure he knew and had. That baby must have a strong bond with Charlie to know somethings not right. Hope the show comes back!
Jackie | May 24, 2007 2:19:30 PM
Thank you Dena! I thought I was the only confuse person with the flashes being in the past instead of the future. I agree wit everything u said and I too am wondering who's funeral was it? ben? locke? poor charlie Im gonna miss him. what a horrible future that awaits jack, a total 360 from the guy in the island. Is it true we have to wait till next year for the new season:(
Kelsey | May 24, 2007 1:59:37 PM
I was really hoping that Charlie wasnt going to die. He's my favorite character. He's grown more on the island than any of the other survivors. He got rid of his drug addiction and he has become a very sweet, amazing person and influence for Claire and Aaron. Now Claire is going to be really depressed every time we see her for the rest of the show. Is there any possible way to kill that one Other that killed Charlie? He keeps dying and coming back to life! I seriously wish Des will find that Other and kill him with his bare hands!! That Other is terrible!!
Joann | May 24, 2007 1:51:40 PM
I think Jack's flashbacks of life after the rescue were actually Locke's seeing into the future and not Jack's at all and that is why at the end of the episode Locke was saying to Jack don't call it was not meant to be, etc. I enjoyed the final episode . . . just wish it would resume sooner.
Jackie | May 24, 2007 1:51:27 PM
Charlie knew he had to die in order to save Claire and Aaron...but was Desmond's vision wrong? Was this the consequence of Charlie not dying sooner? Or reward?
My big thing is, what if this wasn't the right time for Charlie to die...what if that just set in motion what we saw for Jack's future? Was this, in a sense, a punishment for Charlie?
tracy | May 24, 2007 1:40:19 PM
i love u charlie and i will miss you very much on the show. i think jack is going to find his way back to the island and he is going to be the new ben sick and twisted. i dont know what to think of this show anymore.
Cecilia | May 24, 2007 1:34:12 PM
One of the attractions for my family and friends who have been loyal fans from the beginning is the show being shot on the island and what they have to deal with. None of us cared for the future scenes at all. There is enough darkness on the island and this was just too much. The show is about their community, their redemption. To bring the show back to the 'mainland', no matter the storyline will make it become just another show about screwed-up people. If the show is going to go the old Twin Peaks show route, keep it on the island at least. Have the survivors join forces with the others against the new-coming bad guys; move them into the compound containing the homes, etc. That will be enough of a city. Don't remove the show from the island.
HATE that Charlie is gone but what a scene. The actor should be nominated. So much more could have been done with his character. LOVED Hurley's actions. LOVED Sawyer being troubled over his actions. LOVED Locke being okay and loved seeing Walt.
cara | May 24, 2007 1:29:40 PM
i'll miss charlie: ironically, his character become more interesting as his death approached. it was very poignant. how's claire going to live wih it?
i think it was either ben or locke's funeral at the end. i think a lot of people will die in the "rescue" and jack will blame himself. i think he wants to return to the island out of guilt or to " right the wrongs of the rescue ". losing kate might have him sent over the edge. she's probably with sawyer. i hope he finds out that claire is his half-sister and he can have a semblance of family life. walt is back finally: i hope his father comes back as well.

That was not the finale I was waiting for. No real big surprises there at all. Come on, we knew Charlie was gonna die, Jack (again) keeps Ben alive - (Duh?) I thought there would be somthing huge regarding the Island and at least one of it's secrets. Yawn! I was upset that I sat through 2 hours for "that"! Not too mention, no new episodes till Feb 2008... please I might be onto something else by then!

Charlie probably couldn't have shut the door from the outside completely (until the water weight sealed it), because the lock was on the inside....plus, like someone else said, I think he was just resigned to the fact that he would have to die eventually, & last week's episode(his memories) I think made him want to go out a hero. Any other death seemed accidental. I surprised myself that I was sad to see him go because he pretty much gives me the creeps too. But they did a good job with his death scene. It was touching how him & Desmond had an understanding, but Desmond still seem to be fighting for him. HATE Mikhael..can't believe he won't DIE! He's like a bad Jason (Friday the 13th) that won't go away! We know Ben can't die yet...he's an integral part of the story line...we need to hate him to create the drama. I was thinking he was the guy in the coffin too...that maybe Jack went because he finally understood some of Ben's motivations (since Jack seemed to be wanting to return to the island as his future self). If these are potential endings based on various events then I feel that this future MAY be a possibility but not a definite. After all, remember Jack was still referring to his father being alive, & we all know he died before they flew on Oceanic 815...so maybe in this "alternate Scooby Doo ending" Jack's father is still alive. So don't get too fixated on that ending because I feel we'll find it's not set in stone. Great finale though. Some people come to expect too much from every episode. You have to go along for the ride & watch how it unfolds. Pushing for all the answers only means a quicker end to the story we all love to be addicted to!
Ashley | May 24, 2007 1:09:09 PM
I too believe that the funeral was for Ben. Either Ben or Locke. Also, Kate mentions that she needs to get home or "he'll" wonder where she is. Who could that be? and where is Sawyer. For me, I was totally rooting for Kate and Sawyer. I don't like the look into the future. Once they're found, the show is over. And how exactly did Kate escape being put in jail?
Dena | May 24, 2007 1:08:38 PM
1. Yeah, I can do without hearing Claire say "Chah-lie" umpteen times an episode too.
2. Charlie had to die as per Desmond's "vision" in last week's episode.
3. Jack's forward flashes totally threw me. I'm so used to the characters flashing back in time that it didn't even occur to me that this was the future. I was just confused the whole show.
4. Yeah Walt! And then of course with this being Lost, I was wondering if he was really there or if Locke was just imagining him.
5. Somebody put Sawyer in charge since he's the only one with the guts to kill Ben!
Joanna | May 24, 2007 12:44:08 PM
I really hope that for some odd-island twist of fate that Charlie comes back.
I am thinking the funeral was for Ben... when asked if it was a family or friend, Jack said "neither" and when Kate saw the news she seemed to not care at all. That would be my best guess.
AND kate and jack not ending up together!!
..so many sad things last night!
Chelsi | May 24, 2007 12:37:57 PM
P.S. Desmond told Charlie that if he didn't die that Clair and Aaron may not be saved, because it would mess up the chain of events.
Chelsi | May 24, 2007 12:35:48 PM
Last night it was sad to see Charly go, but I was glad that Desmond was there to witness his death and be by his side. Ben is a menace and needs to go. Why Jack or anyone else hasn't offed him yet is a mystery to me. I guess we have to keep him around to find out who this alleged "jacob" is. Either the island is haunted and telling Ben to do things or Ben is just out of his mind. As for Jack's horribly fake beard and sad life in the future, I have to ignore it and hope that Season 4 doesn't keep me from finding out real answers until next spring.
Locke | May 24, 2007 12:28:08 PM
My only question:
Why didn't Charlie just walk out of the room and lock it? He had the time. Not like he "had" to die. Seems like he was sort of resigned to it.
And not shooting the never dying Russian guy was a mistake. Have to make sure that guy is dead. He doesn't stay that way.
Jasmine | May 24, 2007 12:14:44 PM
I really enjoyed the finale. I will agree that it was not as shocking as the previous two, but not bad. My only disappointment is with Charlie. There was know need for him to shut the door with himself inside. He had already stopped the transmission mechanism so he could have swam out of the window. He could have even shut the door from the other side. As a last resort, he could have forgotten about the door and swam back out, after all he did swim in to the begin with. I guess Dominic wanted out of his contract.
Melissa | May 24, 2007 12:07:54 PM
I'm totally bumbed that Charlie died and who's funeral was Jack asking Kate about at the end why she didn't go
Colleen | May 24, 2007 11:58:35 AM
Charlie's death just made me cry.... I loved him, Claire, and Aaron! The moment between him and Desmond was the part where the two of them just nodded at eachother between the glass as a way of understanding.
The only problem - we have to wait for January for the new season! :(
